Defects
Raise defects from failed results or by hand, link them to results, test cases and requirements, and move them through their statuses.
A defect (DEF-1) records a problem found by testing. It has a Severity (Trivial, Minor, Major, Critical, Blocker), a Priority, an Assignee, a Release, an optional reference to the issue in your own tracker, and links to execution results, test cases and requirements. Open defects show up on executions, in Coverage and in the Defect aging report. Raise a defect from a failed result# Open a Failed, Blocked or Error result and select Create defect (or use ⋮ ▸ Create defect on the result in the execution). QA Hub fills in the Title and Description from the test case, the failed step and the failure reason. Adjust them, and set the Severity, Priority, Assignee and Labels. If the result has evidence, keep Copy onto the defect ticked to copy it to the defect. Select Create defect. The defect opens. The defect is linked to the result, its test case and the requirements that test case verifies, and planned for the execution's release. The assignee gets a notification. Raise a defect by hand# Open Quality ▸ Defects and select New defect. Enter the Title, Description, Severity, Priority, Assignee, Release and Labels, and optionally the issue's Reference, Link and Status there in your tracker. Filter the list by Status, Severity, Priority, Assignee, Release, Label, creation date or what a defect is Linked to. Select several defects to change them together. Work a defect# Open a defect to see its description, external tracker reference, assignee, severity, priority, release and links. Select Edit to change it. The Links tab lists the linked Results, Test cases and Requirements. Select Link to add one or Unlink to remove one. Change a defect's status# Select Move to and pick the new status. Only the allowed moves are listed. Resolved, Closed and Rejected need a comment: say what was fixed, in which version, or how it was verified. Then confirm. Use ⋮ to Clone or Delete a defect; a clone starts Open and does not copy the tracker reference. Next steps# Coverage Reports
