Launchpad overview

What Launchpad is, who uses it, and how an automation idea moves from submission to a live, measured automation.

BetaLaunchpad is in beta. A platform administrator enables it per tenant, and it must be included in the tenant's subscription. See Platform administration. Launchpad is the automation pipeline of the Orchestrator web app. People submit opportunities (ideas for something to automate), reviewers assess and score them, decision makers approve them, delivery teams build them, and Launchpad measures the benefit once the automation runs. Open it from the app launcher (grid icon, top left) ▸ Launchpad. If Launchpad is off for the tenant, the page says Launchpad isn't enabled for this tenant. Who uses Launchpad# Person What they do in Launchpad Submitter Submits opportunities, follows them, answers questions in the discussion. Business and technical reviewers Assess opportunities and move them through review. Approver Decides approval requests, for example the go decision. Program manager Runs the portfolio: prioritises, assigns owners, moves opportunities. Project manager, architect, developer Deliver approved opportunities and keep the application inventory current. Administrator Configures organization, categories, types, fields, lifecycle, scoring and access. Each person needs a Launchpad role. See Roles and access. From idea to live automation# The default lifecycle has 13 phases, grouped into five stages: Stage Phases Draft Draft Review Submitted, Assessment, Business Review, Technical Review Decision Decision, Approved Implementation Planning, Development, Testing, UAT Live Production, Benefits Review Someone submits an opportunity. It gets a key such as LP-0000009 and enters Submitted. Reviewers assess and score it: automation potential, ease of implementation, estimated hours saved and a business case. The opportunity moves through the lifecycle. Some moves need information first, and the move from Decision to Approved needs an approval. The delivery team links the automation that delivers it. The move into Production needs a linked automation. Launchpad measures the benefit from the automation's own runs or queue items. Next to its phase, an opportunity has a status: In progress, On hold, Rejected, Merged or Completed.
